1.  Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid

COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification is aimed at the person who requires first aid training that contains additional illness and injury content to that found on a typical one day course.

 

QCF Recognition
This qualification is part of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) regulated by OfQual (the official regulator of qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland).

 

Qualification Structure
This qualification is built from 2 mandatory units of assessment.  One unit normally taught per day, modular and progressive training.

  • Unit 1 Emergency First Aid at Work (separate certificate may be issued to meet HSE regulations)
  • Unit 2 Management of Illness & Injury in Activities

Passing both units leads to the ITC Level 2 Certificate in Activity First Aid (QCF code 501/2396/8)

2 days (normally 2 x 6+ hour days) 

2.  ITC SPORT FIRST AID

Course Overview

This qualification is for the sports person, coach, spectator or other involved adult. As well as the basic life support and illness management topics found upon most first aid courses, this course includes key sports topics such as return to play decisions, managing specialist sports kit such as gum shields, when to and not to use ice, and sports specific first aid such as managing winding, blows to testicles, dead leg, possible compartment syndrome and other sports related first aid concerns.

3. SPORT FIRST AID EMERGENCY ACTION

This qualification is for the sports person, coach, spectator or other involved adult. This single module covers essential life-saving first aid and is the first module of the 2-module ITC Sport First Aid qualification.

4. ITC CERTIFICATE IN FIRST AID FOR SPORT, EXERCISE AND LEISURE

This is a short course covering essential first aid knowledge and techniques for coaches, spectators and other involved people.

 

Course development
This course was developed with the support of North East County Sport Partnerships.  ITC Providers offer a dynamic, standardised delivery that is very appropriate for the active sports arena context.  The content includes essential basic life support and sport injury management.

 

Duration
Either a short 4 hour, or at a more leisurely pace over a day.
